Overview

MacEwan University was founded in 1971 and offers ten bachelor's programs, 32 bachelor's degree majors, two transfer degree programs, one applied degree, and 40 diploma and certificate programs. It is located in Edmonton and consists of two campuses - City Centre Campus and the Alberta College Campus.

More than 18,000 students are enrolled at the University, of which over 12,000 are in full-time credit programs, while the rest are part-time students in diploma and certificate programs. There are over 1,000 international students enrolled at MacEwan,

The University has an open studies program that offers university-level credit courses, on a part-time basis, to students who are not in a specific certificate, degree or diploma program.

MacEwan holds New Student Orientation each year in the fall and winter with early bird tours of campuses. Open English is offered as an Additional Language (ESL) program for international students. This program includes courses that help students learn and improve the English language. It is focused on reading, writing, and speaking, along with grammar and research writing skills.

Accommodation

MacEwan University offers accommodation to over 800 students and available room options include two-bedroom suites, bachelor suites, and four-bedroom suites. The two and four-bedroom suites have individual rooms for each student, with shared amenities like a living room and bathrooms. Students are provided wireless Internet service, a bed, bedside table, desk, fridge, microwave, dining table and chairs, and laundry room access.

About Location

MacEwan University has two campuses, the Albert College campus and the City Centre campus, both located in Edmonton. The City Centre campus houses MacEwan University's Christenson Family Centre for Sport and Wellness, a free recreation facility with fitness and aquatics facilities. It also has Yoga, spin, and aerobics studios and a three-court gymnasium.

The University is located in Edmonton, the capital of Canada's Alberta province. Major landmarks close to the campus include Mayfield Dinner Theatre, William Hawrelak Park, Royal Alberta Museum, and Elk Island National Park. Edmonton International airport is a 40-minute drive away. Students can also reach the campus via the Metro LRT line.
