Established in 1982, Cape Breton University was the first university college in Canada. Initially founded as a college in 1974, Cape Breton is known for innovative economic development, indigenous learning leadership, suitability programs, and professional courses. These residential halls provide services like laundry, shared living rooms, shared kitchens, private or shared washrooms, and shared pantry. The keys to the rooms and hall are all electronic for the utmost security of the students.
