Overview

Western University, a public research university in London, Ontario, Canada, was founded in 1878. Western Ontario is considered one of the best research-intensive universities in Canada.

Western University is ranked among the top 200 universities in the world and has a global reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Multiple Nobel Laureate's have studied here and London, Canada's eleventh-largest city, is an exciting hub for young learners and seasoned professionals.

Nearly 42,000 students, including almost 5,000 international students from 129 countries, study here annually. Programs are available in Education, Engineering, Art/Humanities, Information Media, Science, Health Sciences, Social Science, Law, across the Don Wright Faculty of Music, School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Ivey Business School, and Schulich Medicine and Dentistry.

The University is a founding member of the U15 – Canada's most prestigious research universities - and also has the second-highest number of recipients of National Teaching Fellowships in Canada.

The International Student Services team at Western University serves as the central administrative, advising, and programming office for international students. The University office assists in various services in immigration, exchange, orientation and cultural aspects.

Accommodation

Western University residences provide support, facilities, opportunities for personal growth, cultural exploration and interaction with all facilities and staff.

On-campus student housing offers 11 residence halls suitable for comfortable accommodation. Students have the option of living in residence halls and apartments. Halls of residence include Delaware, Medway-Sydenham, Saugeen-Maitland, Elgin, Essex, Lambton, London, Bayfield, Ontario and Perth.  

Students can choose the room, facilities, location and availability. Students can share accommodation through the University's Affinity Housing. The University also helps students find convenient off-campus housing by renting apartments, suites, and sharing rooms near campus.

About Location

The University of Western Ontario is located in London, Ontario, at the southwest end of the Quebec City-Windsor corridor. The main campus is situated on 1,120 acres of land. The eastern part is bordered by the River Thames, bordering most of the campus residential areas.
