The University of Alberta showcased its best ever performance in the Global 2000 list of universities. According to the ranking system by the Center for World University Rankings 2022-2023, the U of A was ranked 77th from a total of 19,788 universities.
The rankings by CWUR are unique in that they don’t incorporate submissions, surveys, or any subjective data to determine the world university rankings. Instead, the CWUR system uses objective indicators to determine what they consider a world-class university. The four key pillars they take into account are education, faculty, employability, and research, with which they come out with a list of Global 2000 universities.
U of A president Bill Flanagan said: “The U of A’s continued rise to 77th in the CWUR rankings is both testament to the excellence of our faculty and recognition of the influence, impact and reach we have globally.
“We take great pride in being members of a community that inspires and supports such important, relevant and groundbreaking research and scholarship.”
