Overview

The University of Saskatchewan was founded in 1907 and provides over 200 courses across a wide variety of subjects. The University is a member of the U15 Group of Canadian research-intensive universities and is famed for its groundbreaking research in a number of areas.

The University has a partnership with the University of Oxford, the famous Oxbridge university in the UK, whereby students can spend a semester abroad at St Anne's College. 

Almost 26,000 students study at Saskatchewan's 17 colleges and schools, of which over 3,000 are international from over 100 countries. The University of Saskatchewan also provides a variety of scholarship and funding opportunities to eligible international applicants.

Popular courses offered at Saskatchewan University include programs in Fine Arts, General Studies, Business Studies, Romance Languages, Electrical Engineering, Earth Sciences, Wildlife Conservation, and Archaeology.

The University conducts orientation sessions for new students and guides them through academic advising, learning communities, field experiences and professionalism. In these orientation workshops, students are guided with regard to the college ethics, environment, and discipline. The University also takes care of the students from pre-arrival with an airport pick-up service.

The University offers English language programs and students can enrol on the English for Academic Purpose (EAP) course which will help students improve their English skills.

Accommodation

The University has four halls for the students, named Assiniboine Hall, Wollaston Hall, Souris Hall, and Seager Wheeler Hall. Each hall is meant for a particular category of student:

  • Assiniboine Hall and Wollaston Hall (suites for upper-year students, with one or two bedrooms)
  • Souris Hall (forand the students with children, with two-bedroom sets)
  • Seager Wheeler Hall (suites for students who can share, offering 6-bedroom apartments)
