Founded in 1974, the University of the Fraser Valley is a highly reputed education institution in Canada. Located in the picturesque Fraser Valley of British Columbia, over 2100 international students study at the University, accounting for 20% of the total student population.
Small class sizes at the University are common, ensuring high engagement between tutors and students. Due to this, teachers can address the learning requirements of every student.
The University of the Fraser Valley provides over 100 courses to students across 30 subject areas including business, computer science and media. Abbotsford, Aerospace and Chilliwack are the main campuses of the university.
Multilingual student support services are offered to international students. Additionally, airport pickup facilities are provided to arriving students along with information regarding medical insurance, academic and career advice, housing details, and more. Immigration workshops are also organised to resolve immigration-related queries and issues.
New international students are requested to join the Climb portal to complete their orientation. Details about essential things, live sessions, drop-ins, etc., are provided through this portal to acquaint them with the learning environment at the university.
New students can also explore the university campus through a virtual tour. Campus wayfinding tours are available once students enrol in one or more programs at the university.
The University of the Fraser Valley is ranked 55th among Canadian universities. According to Unirank, it ranks 1725th in the World University Rankings.
Additionally, the university received 5-star ratings by QS Stars in Employability, Online Learning, Inclusiveness, Teaching, and Internalisation categories in 2021.
On-campus housing options are provided in the Abbotsford Campus, where students get access to facilities like study rooms, WIFI, cafeteria, and library. Around 102 double occupancy suites are available so that each student can get a separate bedroom. Students who wish to live on-campus must agree to a 2 or 4-month contract and pay the applicable fee.
Students can also choose off-campus accommodations with a family or in a rented apartment as per their convenience.
The University of the Fraser Valley is located in the scenic Fraser Valley east of Vancouver, Canada. Students can explore the agriculture centre, bookstores, libraries and computer labs at the Chilliwack campus, as well as other facilities provided in Chilliwack’s Canada Education Park.
Abbotsford is the nearest airport to the university. Though there aren't any direct routes from the airport to the university, students can take subways to Vancouver City Centre Station, Lougheed Town Centre Station, or other stops within a walking distance of their respective campuses.
Vancouver has modern amenities like shopping malls, movie theatres, clubs, etc. Students can spend time in the city and explore local culture and food.
Students can commute across campuses through the Campus Shuttle Bus. Disabled students or students who cannot move freely can register for Accessibility Services and get access to a single trip for the complete semester.
